HCA MEDICAL OFFICE ASSISTANT:

This Medical Office Assistant program is designed to provide understanding in medical record and documentation management, health care operations, software applications, and basic anatomy and physiology including medical office filing systems, scheduling and meeting planning. Upon completion of this program, the student among other items would able to:

  • Explain how to process patient information, health care, and insurance data following all governmental regulations,
  • Discuss the proper ways to file paper and electronic health care claim forms,
  • Describe how to use the proper diagnostic and procedure coding,
  • Outline how to correct a rejected claim, work with a clearinghouse, and appeal a rejected claim,
  • Define how to use layout and guidelines of the ICD-10-PCS and describe each character’s purpose that makes up the ICD-10-PCS code.

EDUCATION & JOB EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows
  • Ability to work with a computer
