PLS LEGAL ASSISTANT:

This Legal Assistant program is designed to gain knowledge in the fundamentals of paralegal, evidence, family law, contracts, property, and legal research writing. Upon completion of this program, the student among other items would able to:

  • Describe the role paralegals play in litigation, torts or personal injury, criminal law, business law, family law, and contracts,
  • Discuss how paralegals assist in running a legal office and know the implications of paralegal regulations and paralegal ethics,
  • Explain how evidence is obtained and the types evidence that is admissible in court,
  • Describe the process of gathering documentation and preparing presentation of evidence for trials,
  • Describe the roles of a paralegal in contract law, have a basic understanding of various types of contract laws, and the contract law research process.

EDUCATION & JOB EXPERIENCE:

  • Ability to use Microsoft Windows
  • Ability to work with a computer
