COURSE NAME: ACT230 Payroll Fundamentals Certification
Course Description (Detailed Syllabus is released upon registration)
Students will learn concepts and fundamentals of the payroll systems. Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) explain payroll practices and system fundamentals, 2) describe payroll system procedures and the various methods involved in computing gross pay, 3) explain the variations of fringe benefits and voluntary deductions, 4) discuss employee net pay and the computation steps involved in computing employee net pay, 5) explain employee payroll taxes and labor planning, and 6) describe the payroll register, employees’ earnings records, and various payroll accounting system entries.
Prerequisites
Joshua’s Accounting Clerk, Accounting Specialist, or Bookkeeping Specialist programs

Course Grading and Policies
Points from: Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.
A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.

Award Upon Completion
