COURSE NAME:  LAW114 Introduction to Criminal Justice

Course Description (Detailed Syllabus is released upon registration)

Students will learn the essentials of criminal justice.  Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) define criminal justice and discuss the due process and individual rights; special categories of crimes; and the purpose, types, and categories of laws, 2) discuss the purpose and organization of the police, legal aspects of policing, and the issues and challenges the police face, 3) discuss the structure and people involved in the court system, the steps from pretrial to sentencing, and the different types of sentences, and 4) explain juvenile justice, drug crimes, terrorism and multinational criminal justice, and the future of criminal justice.

Points from:  Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.

A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.

Late Assignment Policy: If unable to complete assignments or tests on time, please contact your instructor before the due date.Assignments or tests submitted after the due date without appropriate excuse and pre-approval will receive a zero score.
