COURSE NAME:  LAW119 Criminal Investigations

Course Description (Detailed Syllabus is released upon registration)

Students will learn the essentials of Criminal Investigations.  Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) outline the duties and responsibilities of a criminal investigator and the laws governing investigative practices, procedures, and operations, 2) discuss standard procedures for violent and property crime investigations, protocol for the investigations, and understand crime scene analysis, 3) describe the various aspects of homicide investigations, burglaries, robberies, sex crime investigations, what specialized investigations entail, and how criminal investigations are managed, and 4) explain what is admissible into court including physical evidence, interviews and interrogations, eyewitness identifications, and crime scene reconstructions.

Points from:  Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.

A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.

Late Assignment Policy: If unable to complete assignments or tests on time, please contact your instructor before the due date.Assignments or tests submitted after the due date without appropriate excuse and pre-approval will receive a zero score.
