COURSE NAME:  HCA119 Comprehensive Pharmacy Tech Software

Course Description (Detailed Syllabus is released upon registration)

This is a hands-on training course pharmary software similar to the pharmacy computer software in retail outlets such CVS and Walgreen. Students will learn the practical aspect of comprehensive pharmacy technology.  Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) understand pharmacy competences including how to add, edit, and update physicians, patients, insurance companies, and various drugs parameters in the systems, 2) describe the dosage forms and routes of administration including conversions and calculations, in addition to drugs information, references, and community pharmacy practices, and how to manage authorized prescriptions, refill, and transfer prescriptions including extemporaneous compounds and dosages, 3) explain the institutional pharmacy practices including hospitals, clinics, and nursing homes with additional pharmacy practices settings in batch, bulk, repackaging, sterile, and non-sterile compounds, and 4) discuss the pharmacy billing and inventory management, medication safety and error prevention including pharmacy operations, management, and workflow.

Course Grading and Policies

Points from:  Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.

A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.

Late Assignment Policy: If unable to complete assignments or tests on time, please contact your instructor before the due date.Assignments or tests submitted after the due date without appropriate excuse and pre-approval will receive a zero score.

Award Upon Completion

The student will receive three credit hours upon completion of this course.
