COURSE NAME:  CRT HCA117 Principles & Practices of Pharmacy Tech

Course Description (Detailed Syllabus is released upon registration)

Students will learn the basic principles and essential concept of pharmacy technician services.  Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to: 1) understand the role and scope of practice, and general duties of a pharmacy technician including the laws and controlled substances, 2) discuss drugs and drug therapy including drug classification and frequently prescribed medications, 3) describe the dispensing process including prescription and medication order intake and entry, preparing and dispensing prescriptions, and calculation, and 4) explain the importance of medication safety and quality assurance.

Course Grading and Policies

Points from:  Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.

A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.
