COURSE NAME: HCA102 ICD-10 Coding
Course Description (Detailed Syllabus is released upon registration)
Students will learn how to use ICD-10 Coding. Upon completion of this course students will be able to: 1) describe how to use layout and guidelines of the ICD-10-PCS and describe each character’s purpose that makes up the ICD-10-PCS code, 2) discuss how to use the terminology in the layout and structure of the ICD-10-PCS codebook, 3) explain the structure of an ICD-10-CM code and navigate the layout of the ICD-10-CM coding manual, and 4) outline and explain the steps required for tabular and alphabetic index of the ICD-10-CM and identify medical records containing diagnostic statements.

Points from: Lessons, Assignments, Tests, Classroom Discussion, and Course Portfolio are factors in grade point calculation.
A = 90% – 100%, B = 80% – 89%, C = 70% – 79%, D = 60% – 69%, F = 59% and Below.

Award Upon Completion
The student will receive three credit hours upon completion of the course.
